Other than that, here is a quick run down of what I've been doing for the last few of days. This is mostly cos
chinchillajaz requested to know. It probably won't make any sense to the rest of you!
So we arrived in Guatemala on Sunday after a day and a half of travelling. We did a driving tour of the city with our friend from when we lived here. Went to all the places we useed to visit including my old school. It's actually still there and looks almost exactly the same except for the huge barbed wire fence and some kind of guard tour... Most of downtown is exactly the same, some new high rise buildings anad stuff, but the streets are generally the same. Up the hill near my house is totally changed. They've built HUUUUGE housing estates and massive retauil parks. Apparently there's going to be some kind of cinema conmplex up there soon.
Then on Tuesday we came to Antigua (the old capital). It is totally the same on the outside. But if you walk around you will actually find McDonalds, Burger King and Domino Pizza!! Which is a bit surreal when they are housed in old colonial Spanish-style buildings. We've wandered around the markets and churches and things. Met up with some old friends for dinner.
This afternoon we are getting a rented car and driving up to the Lake Atitlan for a few days.
The weather's been alright. It's the rainy season, os every afternoon there is a thunder storm, which is quite cool. When the sun is out it gets fairly hot, but not unbearably so- high 20's to 30's. But when it's cloudy like now it is pretty much the same as in Scotland (at the moment) but here you can walk around in a T-shirt without freezing to death.
Got a few pictures. My camera has been chewing up batteries like nothing else!! I was hoping to get the volcano behind Antigua, but it's covered in cloud at the moment. Maybe later...
For
harveytheayeaye's benefit, I may have a new DA picture by this afternoon. But I won't be able to upload it for a while.
Well that's all for now. Catch you later.
PS- Slash, sorry I couldn't talk on MSN it was being lame and kept crashing out on me. Will try and get in touch at some point.
